Old Tongue
Adverb
scrup
- between
Preposition
scrup
- between
Notes
Scrup is seen in two songs: Caisen'shar and Andor, used two different ways. From Caisen'shar,
nag scrup anfear
"between day and night"
and from Andor,
Jaendar scrup hirato mist balt ti souvra
"find (your) middle space between heart and mind"
This shows two very different patterns of usage. The first is literally "day between night". The second is "Find between space middle heart to mind", or adjusting for word order, "Find middle space between heart to mind". So, in Old Tongue, to render "between A and B", there seems to be a choice of "A scrup B" and "scrup A ti B". The latter is closer to English, except that Old Tongue uses "to" instead of "and".
