The Dragon's Heart
The Dragon's Heart is a song from the Season 2 soundtrack of The Wheel of Time television series.
Lyrics
Verse 1
Old Tongue
Official English
Temptress dressed in white
Beauty personified
Darkness will unfurl
When you see the stars
Through her raven curls
Literal Translation
temptress fronts beauty
clothed (in) white
makes one shadow
when stars (appear?)
seen with (her) beauty
Notes
Belotath appears to be belo (desire) + amotath (attraction) to create the noun "temptress".
Faldish is a difficult word. It is very unclear what its true meaning is; the official English is misaligned with the Old Tongue, and "raven curls" seems not to be present at all unless faldish literally means "raven curls", but then the grammar does not support that. Tentatively we assign it the meaning "appear", but in truth we cannot reliably infer the meaning here.
Chorus
Old Tongue
Official English
Catching light
Eyes black as night
Lust concealed (in)
Mirrors of the Wheel
Literal Translation
eyes (of) darkness
catching light
desire hidden by
mirrors of the Wheel
Notes
Dumne is a new word, only used here, but the meaning is fairly clear from context. Also, konthum seems to mean "mirrors".
Verse 2
Old Tongue
qen onir faldish
darshae vid boan
Official English
Mistress of disguise
Will lead you to your demise
Broken is your world
When you see the stars
Through her raven curls
Literal Translation
mistress (of) disguise
doom (of) your destruction
breaking your world
when stars (appear?)
seen with (her) beauty
Notes
Shaya appears related to shayol, as in Shayol Ghul. It is unlikely to mean "lead" since hael carries that meaning, and the similarity to shayol suggests a meaning closer to "doom" or "destruction".
