Al'Naito is a song from the Season 3 soundtrack of The Wheel of Time television series.
Lyrics
Verse 1
Old Tongue
Official English
The pillar
The prodigy
Nothing but the Seat
Literal Translation
pillar
prodigy
(the) woman is (the) position
Notes
Instead of English's metonymic "seat", Old Tongue uses "position" to refer to the Amyrlin Seat.
Verse 2
Old Tongue
obiyar isain shai
Official English
No life
No love of one's own
Nothing but the Seat
Literal Translation
no life
no love
(the) woman is (the) position
Notes
Sora inde contracts to sorinde, mashi inde to mashinde.
Verse 3
Old Tongue
Official English
Attend you all who comes
The Keeper of the Seals
Noble Daughter of the River
The enduring Flame of Tar Valon
Literal Translation
attend (you) all, she comes
keeper of the seals
noble river daughter
enduring flame of Tar Valon
Notes
Sah'lyat (attend) is related to sahlan (attention). Ca'lyet here is not translated to "does come" because it is applying emphasis which is captured in English via the speaking tone rather than word choice.
It is unknown what function ik plays here; there is no clear hint. Wapyen is clearly related to wapro (cover).
Tyakunen'ye is clearly related to tyaku (keep). Tyakunen would be one who keeps tangibly or materially; tyakunen'ye is a keeper who keeps metaphorically. See -ye for more details.
